Whether you are navigating complex relationship dynamics, unsettled by a quiet dissatisfaction in a life that looks great on the outside, or exploring therapy when other avenues have failed, a life of contentment is within your reach. I'm Adam, and I specialise in helping adults with anxiety, self esteem issues and lifestyle choices. I welcome clients from Brighton, London and across the UK through online sessions.
Ready to take the next step toward a more spirited life?
Taking the step to seek mental health support can feel daunting. Because I work entirely online, we can meet in a confidential space of your choosing, fitting our weekly sessions conveniently into your life. The issues we could work on can range from general mood related issues to psychosexual oriented topics, some of which are listed under Focus areas and themes below.
When you find yourself in circumstances you feel unequipped to handle, it is easy to fall into damaging coping strategies that match the unique twists of your story. This is why standard self-help resources often fail, no matter how much effort you put in - they simply aren't built specifically for you. I am here to help you unpack your current challenges and see the clarity that exists beyond the immediate worry.
If you are navigating the expectations and pressures that often come with life beyond financial security, you know those complexities require a tailored approach. I provide a completely confidential space to understand your unique psychological layers, meeting you exactly where you are.
I have personally experienced my life change from psychotherapy and believe yours will too.
Trying to figure everything out alone often keeps you
trapped in the same loops. You may not feel comfortable speaking through your issues with partners, family, friends, or associates, and your own sense of independence can make it difficult to seek help. We will work together on your specific situation to find healthier ways of navigating difficult emotions, transforming what overwhelms you into an opportunity to make choices that are right for you.
I am qualified in Psychosynthesis counselling and also trained in the specialist field of sex and relationship therapy. I draw on several ways of working, tailoring my approach as needed. My work emphasises activating your inner resources, allowing you to move beyond limiting beliefs and anxiety with confidence.
Quality of counselling offered is of utmost importance to me and I abide by the BACP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice, and COSRT Code of Ethics and Practice. I practice online and you will need to have somewhere quiet and private for our sessions.
People come to me for help with a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common themes that I can support through therapy:
Anxiety
Burdens of privilege
Burnout
Depression
Intrusive thoughts
Life transitions
Opposition to lifestyle choices
Racism / cultural marginalisation
Self esteem
Sex / intimate partner related
Spiritual Emergence
Stress

I offer a free no-obligations 25 minute introductory online consultation for prospective clients to decide whether you would like to proceed with therapy. During this consultation we can discuss what brings you to counselling, how we may work together and answer any questions you may have – please fill in the form with your query. You do not need to decide whether to proceed with therapy during the introductory consultation and can notify me via email after our chat if that is more comfortable.
If you would like to proceed, I will send you a pre-therapy assessment and other needed documents, which includes our agreement for you to fill and return. While this sounds like a lot, these stages are all important to make sure that your therapy with me is appropriate and safe. I have also found this maximises use of our time, so we can focus on talking about the presenting issues during our sessions.
Once I have received your signed documents, you can schedule a weekly time slot so we can start our work together.
If we decide to work together, you will commit to a minimum of six sessions as an ongoing weekly appointment. We will review before the sixth session whether you have a need to continue. The overall length of counselling is open-ended and varies for each individual. It could be contained within the six sessions at a minimum or span several years, depending on client-centred needs.
There are advantages and disadvantages of both approaches. I have offered in-person therapy in the past. Currently, I like the flexibility and possibility of reaching a much wider audience online. Through online counselling, I am able to support clients regardless of where they are, with sessions arranged at a weekly time that fits their life. From a client perspective, working online with someone professionally registered and proficient could be preferable than in person from a limited pool of therapists available locally. I have written a blog post on this topic, which can be found here.
Quality of counselling offered is of utmost importance to me and I abide by the Code of Ethics and Professional Practice of both BACP and COSRT. Regular clinical supervision is carried out to ensure standards, enhance quality, advance learning, stimulate creativity, and support the sustainability and resilience of the work being undertaken. During supervision, I may talk about our work together but no personal identifying information will be shared.
I take part in regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) exceeding BACP and COSRT annual membership requirements to ensure I have the capacity to practise safely, effectively and legally within the evolving scope of practice.
Yes, you can cancel your session with a week’s notice or more. If you cancel with less than 3 days you will be charged full session rate, unless in exceptional circumstances such as a medical emergency. However, repetitive patterns of cancellation (regardless of payment for the sessions) are a hindrance to your progression and we will have to discuss how to continue if that becomes a factor.
The relationship between the therapist and the client is crucial for the therapeutic process. Sometimes a client may experience challenging emotions during therapy and may feel misunderstood or uncomfortable discussing further. If this happens, it would be beneficial for you to share those feelings with me, so we have an opportunity to work through them without judgement. The feelings you experience within the therapeutic relationship can sometimes reflect challenges in life outside the counselling space - talking them through safely can be rewarding, deepening our mutual understanding and leading to personal growth.
I will send you a link to a secure online platform for you to access. You will need to have somewhere quiet and private for the session. Psychotherapy cannot take place in an open or outdoor setting such as a park or on public transport, or with another person in the room. Please note that for Health and Safety reasons, children are not permitted to be in the room for your session and children aged 9 or under must not be left unsupervised during your session. If applicable, childcare arrangements will need to be made for at least the duration of the session.
At the time of each scheduled session, you simply need to click on the link to access the session.
No. Due to confidentiality, recording of sessions by clients is prohibited as well. As all sessions are confidential, whatever we discuss remains between us. During supervision, which is carried out to ensure standards and enhance quality, I may talk about our work together but no personal identifying information will be shared.
Please check my Privacy Policy to see how I protect and manage your data.
Please note that there might be some interruptions due to technology, which I will do my best to avoid but maybe inevitable due to issues such as connection problems. If this becomes a significant factor, we can discuss whether to reschedule the session at your convenience. If technological problems prevent us from connecting online, I will email you as soon as possible to arrange a solution.
